Our 2023 Torrontes puts forward a powerful burst of tropical fruit, including citrus (lemon, lime, grapefruit), coconut, banana, and such delicacies as lychee, mango, and papaya. This relatively new grape variety, best known from Spain and Argentina, is a crossing between the light-bodied Mission grape, the original New World wine grape, and the ancient, extremely floral Muscat of Alexandria. This pale golden wine knits together the positive characteristics of each of its ancestors to become the perfect wine for warm spring and summer days.
Torrontes exhibits a delicate mouthfeel, but finishes with a well-balanced citrus-y tang. Unlike many wines, it is capable of pairing well with most salads and vegetable based dishes. It also pairs well with small cheese bites, non-tomato based pasta, and serves as an excellent accompaniment to sautéed whitefish (cod, halibut) entrees.
