Our Souzao shows strong characteristics of blackberry, almost like a pie or cobbler, along with notes of plum, black cherry, and vanilla. Slight hints of cedar and leather also accompany the deep, dark fruit in this brooding, richly textured wine. On the palate, this Souzao enters with a bold, but moderate mouthfeel, which in turn leads to a lasting finish with a background of black pepper and spice.
The muscular character of our Souzao, combined with its balanced tartness, pairs well with flavorful “comfort food”. Our pairing selections include either grilled tri-tip or hickory smoked baby back ribs.
